SENG Chandaly has moved on from WaterSHED to pursue her Master’s Degree in Policy Economics in the United States after two years working with us as a Finance and Administration Coordinator. As one of the first local staff recruited, Daly’s contributions to WaterSHED were tremendous. Some of those included setting up an accounting system, creating HR policy, conducting financial audits with partners, and registering WaterSHED with the Ministry of Interior as a local NGO. In return, Daly said WaterSHED has taught her a lot about development issues in Cambodia, particularly Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, of which she previously had little knowledge. Moreover, her years of experiences in development work with WaterSHED have made Daly an outstanding candidate for Williams College’s one-year scholarship award.
“WaterSHED has transformed me to be a potential leader. It has empowered me to be a real leader in the field of development, which contributed to the success of me achieving the scholarship at Williams College in the United States,” said Seng Chandaly.
What Daly will miss the most about WaterSHED is its open and dynamic environment where everyone is treated with family-like hospitality and given equal opportunity to bring in new ideas and implement them. Daly’s enthusiastic commitment to WaterSHED and her sense of humor will be missed. We are sad for her departure, but very proud of her significant achievements as a result of working with WaterSHED. All of us at WaterSHED wish her well and great success in her academic pursuits at Williams College.
