USAID’s Development Innovation Ventures program recognized the innovation and opportunity in WaterSHED’s handwashing program to test-market the device. With a Stage 1 grant, WaterSHED is working to jumpstart business development and the commercial introduction of the handwashing device in Vietnam, laying the groundwork for an exciting new product category with scale-up potential, not only in Vietnam, but  region-wide. Employing its market-based approach to water and sanitation problems, WaterSHED is bringing together the resources and energy of entrepreneurs, government agencies, and multinational corporations in order to make significant inroads towards solving this pressing public health problem.
